Ballon Bleu by Cartier Watches

The Pasha

Cartier fits a square peg into a round hole with its men’s W31072M7 extra large Pasha watch. The design has fortitude. It is simple and clear with plenty of blank space, but it is not empty. It is a time piece that can be worn in virtually any setting from formal to casual and will always send a message of originality without undue flamboyance.

The W31072M7 Men’s extra large Pasha watch begins with a big, round steel case rimmed with a wide, blank stationary steel bezel. In the center, the blued steel hands are framed by a square box that stands out against the circular dial. Radiating out from the box edges, there are diagonal lines that form quadrants in concordance with the Arabic numeral hour markers. Together, all these shapes lines and numbers form a surprisingly bold and cohesive design. The crown, set with the blue Cartier spinel, features a screw-down cover. The watch face is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The movement is automatic-winding mechanical and the watch is water resistant to 30 meters.

Industrial Timekeeping

If you favor the industrial and utilitarian over the subtle or outright glitzy, there may just be a Cartier watch for you. The Cartier Santos 100 W20121U2 men’s watch is a big square block of wrist-bound time keeping machinery with telltale Cartier accents and quality. The Santos 100 looks sturdy. It looks manly. In fact, it looks downright industrial.

This watch’s look begins with its wide black rubber bracelet and is anchored by its large, square block of a case. Taking the look further, the band is connected to the case by two visible steel screws on each side. Eight more steel screws affix the case. They stand out, too, as they’re over a black rubber strip that covers the stationary steel bezel. The crown is also steel, set with another piece of black rubber. The dial face, protected by scratch resistant sapphire, is white with black oxidized steel hands and the iconic Cartier eschewed Roman numeral hour markers. The Cartier Santos 100 W20121U2 men’s watch has the automatic winding Cartier caliber 049 mechanical movement and it is water resistant to 330 feet.

Sea spirit

Cartier says its Pasha Seatimer W31077M7 men’s watch was made with the “spirit of the open sea.” It is a striking time piece, but its design is more traditional than outlandish. Here, Cartier blends a formal and an athletic look for a high quality, high end watch.

The Pasha Seatimer’s case and bracelet are stainless steel. The bezel, also steel, is unidirectional with black Arabic numerals and a triangle at high noon. The dial face has a black background with white hour markers, also Arabic numerals, and is covered by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal window. The W31077M7 has a circular crown, set with black ceramic, which includes a screw-down safety device, adding a little more originality to an already unique design. The steel hour and minute hands are diamond shaped and there is a date window between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock. This men’s watch has Cartier Caliber 049 automatic movement. It can power itself without a battery, automatically, by the movement of the wearer’s arms. It is water resistant to 330 feet.

Classically modern

Cartier calls its 21 Must De Cartier W10110T2 men’s watch a “modern classic.” That is a good assessment. Really, this watch combines the modern with the classic. At first glance, it looks like a timeless, classic Cartier watch. A second longer and you see the modern elements beginning to emerge. Aside from the blued steel hands and the blue synthetic spinel cabochon set in the crown, the watch is monochromatic with the color ranging from white to silver to stainless steel. The face design of concentric circles highlights this monochrome scale. With this modern designing matched by the classic Cartier aesthetic, it truly is a “modern classic.”

The stainless steel stationary bezel is the outermost circle and it contains Roman numeral hour markers. Just inside is a thin circular band with Arabic numeral minute markers on a white background. This band rims the innermost and final circle, which is blank steel highlighted by the blue hands. The face is covered by a scratch resistant sapphire window. The 21 Must De Cartier W10110T2 men’s watch has Cartier caliber 690 quartz movement and it is water resistant to 100 feet.

Vroom

Time will not speed up if you are wearing Cartier’s Roadster W62041V3 men’s watch, but you may look a little faster. Inspired by race cars of the 1950’s and 60’s, the Roadster W62041V3 is at once original, sleek and bubbly. It maintains the precision and style that has been a mainstay of Cartier products for more than 150 years, while adding the flair reminiscent of those old iconic autos.

Masculine and Classic, the Rotonde de Cartier is a hand-crafted masterpiece

The Rotonde de Cartier W1556051 Men’s Watch is a handsome and chic central chronograph watch on a 42 millimeter case.  It is composed of 18K white gold.  Elegant and sophisticated, this timepiece features a circular grained crown, also composed of white gold and enhanced with a cabochon sapphire set in its center.  The dial is finished with various shades of slate and metal gray and labeled with black Roman numerals and indexes.    The concentric circles featured on the watch face draw the eye to the center of this refined Cartier masterpiece while the sword shaped blue steel hour and minute hands appear to glide across the Roman numerals. 

The impressive Rotonde de Cartier W1556051 Men’s Watch features manual winding and mechanical movement.  Its diameter measures 25.6 millimeters and it is composed of 272 pieces – including 35 jewels.  Each Rotonde de Cartier is individually numbered and workshop-crafted by Cartier.  This timepiece features two sapphire crystals, one on the front and one on the back.  The back is transparent to allow its wearer to view the inner-workings of this masterpiece.   The black alligator-skin strap enhances the masculinity of the Rotonde de Cartier watch while its 18K adjustable deployant buckle makes for a comfortable wear.

Eye See You

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier W6920046 men’s watch brings to mind an eye. Maybe it is a whale’s eye; or a child’s eye, as wide as possible with wonder and disbelief; or maybe it is the eye of some kind of a technician, enlarged through the lens of a thick, round monocle; or maybe it is just an eyeball. Whatever, the large round case, offset by a thinner band is striking and original without trying too hard.

The big round, highly polished stainless steel case of the Ballon Bleu de Cartier W6920046 men’s watch is further accentuated by a slightly protruding piece of steel protecting the crown. At a glance it looks almost as if the watch has a compass to guide the stylish wearer. Under the scratch resistant sapphire crystal window, the dial boasts Roman numeral hour markers and blued steel hands. Its crown is fluted, with a blue synthetic spinel cabochon. The bracelet is steel and the mechanical movement has Cartier caliber 076 automatic winding. The watch is also water resistant to 100 feet.

WATCH

Here’s a watch that’s not afraid to be a WATCH. It’s a big hunk of a watch, in fact, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. It’s in a big hunk of steel, too, with eight screws on its face that give it a bit of a heavy duty industrial feel. The Cartier Santos 100 W20073X8 men’s watch has no date, no sub-dials, no stopwatch, no extra time zone, no diamonds, no pretense — just a whole lot of Cartier watch.

The Santos 100 W20073X8 men’s watch has a square, stainless steel case with a silvered opaline dial, protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal window. Set in its stainless steel crown is a blue faceted synthetic spinel. Its black oxidized steel hands, which are sword shaped and luminescent, point to the Cartier eschewed Roman numerals. The movement is Cartier caliber 049 automatic winding mechanical and the watch is water resistant up to 100 meters. The case is 51 millimeters long by 41 mm wide and 10 mm thick. The strap is black alligator skin.

The Roadster S

The name brings to mind classic two-seater convertibles of the 1950s — cars like the old bathtub Porsche. They were slightly minimalist machines designed for one thing: the thrill of being on the road in style. The Cartier Roadster S w6206018 men’s watch, like those old cars, is sporty, sleek, original and fun. The watch has Cartier’s craftsmanship, quality and precision, but more of a Roadster’s aesthetic sensibility. It’s a watch built more for fun than for business, though that can be altered to some degree with a change of bands.

The 44mm case is polished stainless steel and the bezel is also steel, but coated to make it match the primary band, a black rubber that gives the Roadster S w6206018 a more sporty look than many of Cartier’s watches. The face, covered by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal window, includes a date window at 3 o’clock. The watch hands are black oxidized steel. This men’s watch has an automatic winding mechanical movement and is water resistant to 330 feet. The black rubber band is interchangeable, giving the wearer freedom to dress it up when the occasion demands.
